It was a case of home is where the heart is in Division Three of the John Sharples (Letting Agents) Furness and District Bowling League, with all the games going the way of the homesters.

Leaders Lindal A continued their unstoppable form on their own patch with a 13-1 demolition of a Walney Park B side still without a win this season.

Alex Spelman and Keith Johnson were tremendous winners for the villagers whilst Brian White saved Walney’s blushes with a 21-17 victory.

West Mount A entertained Red River A and although the games were tied six apiece, the aggregate easily went the way of the Mount thanks to great wins from top man Steve Holmes (21-3) and Steve Jefferson (21-8).

For the River, Dan Hayes won on his return to bowls 21-8, with Calum Sharples backing him up with a 21-9 victory of his own as West Mount took the game 8-6.

It was a much tighter affair at Barrow Island where the A team played West Mount’s first string. Again, the games were shared but this time only six chalks separated the two teams, the home team gaining the aggregate points and the game 8-6.

Jack Challinor and John Hulston led the way for them with 21-9 and 21-10 victories, respectively.

North Scale hosted fellow Islanders West Shore A and will be delighted with the 11-3 scoreline. Gordon Walker showed he is finally learning off his grandson as he romped to a 21-6 win, while Peter O’Connor backed him up with his own 21-8 victory.

Roose B are still looking for their first win of the season and again travelled without the full compliment of players, giving two games away to Co-op B. So to manage four wins in their 10-4 defeat is actually a fairly good result.

Terry Fitzsimmons (21-9) was the pick of the Roose winners with Trevor White (21-5) and Dave Benn (21-10) showing form for the Co-op.

Glaxo A are moving themselves into contention for a promotion shot and continued their good form with a 10-4 defeat of Hawcoat Park C.

Paul Brown led the way with a tremendous 21-4 victory with Eric Worsley weighing in with a 21-6 of his own. Mike Bowyer was unstoppable in his reply for Hawcoat, running out a 21-2 victor.
