The League Winners versus the rest of the league matches in the Barrow Friday League were held at the Navy Club last Friday during the league's presentation night, as the curtain came down on the season.

The night started with The British Legion’s successful Billiards Team against a select rest of the league team.

First to the table were Kevin Quinn and Paul Fieldhouse and Quinn forged ahead in the later part of the contest with consistent small breaks to take him close to the finishing post before eventually sealing a 100-63 win.

Legion’s captain Allan Edmondson, who claimed the aggregate winners' prize, was next to the table against Vickerstown Cricket’s Gareth Willis.

Willis was the first to score well with a 27 break, but Edmondson responded straight away with a well-made 40 break, beating his own highest break of the season, then went on with a number of small breaks to progress up the board to win 100-73. The final game between Colin Taylor and Peter Roberts was played to a finish, with Roberts coming out the victor 100-82.

Snooker champions British legion A were the next to face the best of the rest of the league.

First to the green baize were Legion captain John Tyerman taking on the Navy Club’s Dave Wilkie. The game went down to the colours, with Tyerman confidently taking the last three to win 67-43.

This year’s joint snooker aggregate winner Billy Burns took on Lee Majors from Roose Cons in the second frame. A nip a tuck frame went down to the wire for whoever potted the black ball won the game. Majors left it safe on the top cushion, but Burns doubled it in the bottom pocket to win 63-52.

The last game between Dave Simpson, the other joint snooker aggregate winner, and British Legion’s Mike Smith did not need to be played.
