A brilliant all-round performance from Millom’s Graham Dawson proved to be in vain last Saturday, as Lindal Moor claimed a thrilling two-wicket victory in the Premier Division of the Cumbria Premier League.

Dawson made 54 as Millom were bowled out for just 128, with Janith de Silva and John Atkinson both taking four wickets, but Lindal also struggled with the bat in reply.

That was down to Dawson claiming 5-38, but the visitors eventually got over the line in the penultimate over.

Furness maintained their 100 per cent record with a comfortable 51-run win over Cockermouth after opener Wyll Stanway struck 76 to help the hosts post 191-9.

Kavishka Anjula then helped Cockermouth recover from 65-5 by making 61 from the middle order, but the visitors were eventually bowled out for 140 in the 44th over, as Gary Thompson took a superb 5-25 for Furness.

Overseas player Lasith Waduge was another bowler to complete a five-for, as Dalton defeated Wigton by 82 runs in a low-scoring contest.

Jack Singleton top-scored with 45 for Dalton, who posted 162-8 from their 50 overs, but this was more than enough, as Wigton were rolled out for just 80.

Only opener Nico Watt (39) got into double figures, as Sri Lankan Waduge took 5-22, while Matthew Holmes chipped in with 3-27.

Mike Slack made 52 as Carlisle edged past Cleator by two wickets, as they just about chased down the hosts’ 166-6 with ten deliveries to spare, with Mike Slack making a vital 52.

Elsewhere, Egremont fell to a 133-run defeat at Keswick after crumbling to 66 all out in reply to the hosts’ 199-7, while Workington ground out a four-wicket victory at home to Whitehaven.
