Barrow AFC defender Dan Jones has been named in the 2018/19 Vanarama National League Team of the Season.

Jones is the only player from a team who finished outside the play-offs in the division to make the fifth tier's select XI, following a consistent campaign that saw him make 41 league appearances in what was his second season with the Bluebirds.

Despite the 24-year-old making a successful transition to centre back under manager Ian Evatt, he's been put in at left-back in the line-up, which is for voted by all the clubs in the league.

Jones was selected by England C for the second time in March and started their friendly against Wales C at Salford City's Moor Lane ground in March.

However, AFC fans may have seen the last of the former Hartlepool man, with Evatt admitting a week ago that he could be set to leave amidst interest from Football League clubs.

Three players from champions Leyton Orient made the cut in goalkeeper Dean Brill, midfielder Jobi McAnuff and striker Macauley Bonne.

Carl Piergianni is in there for Salford, who were promoted to League Two last Saturday thanks to a 3-0 play-off final victory over AFC Fylde, for whom the prolific Danny Rowe is included.

Eastleigh's Paul McCallum and Josh Hare, Solihull Moors' Darren Carter and Jamey Osborne and Wrexham's Shaun Pearson are the other players picked.
