Vickerstown under-14s had a weekend they will never forget after they won two competitions in two days in the Barrow & District Junior Football League.

The first step towards their delightful double came last Saturday when they sealed the under-14 league title with a 4-1 victory over closest rivals Holker Old Boys Red, who hadn’t lost a league fixture this season prior to that.

They didn’t have much time to celebrate, however, as they were back in action for the final of the Furness District FA Cup against Furness Rovers at Holker Street the following day.

The short turnaround didn’t affect them, though, as they swept aside Rovers 5-0 at the home of Barrow AFC to continue their stunning season, which could still end with yet further glory.

Dave Shurgold’s side have an Ulverston Hospital Cup final against Furness Cavaliers under-13s coming up on Sunday, while they await the winners Hawcoat Park under-13s and Furness Rovers in the BDJFL Knockout Cup.

They weren’t the only side celebrating at Holker Street, although the under-16 Furness District FA Cup final was more of a contest, as Holker Old Boys edged out Furness Cavaliers 3-2.

The finalists of the under-12 Hospital Cup were decided last Saturday, as Millom Juniors were handsome 6-2 winners against Crooklands Casuals under-11 Oranges, while Swarthmoor thrashed Hawcoat Park 6-1 in the other semi-final.

Furness Cavaliers under-12s also had a great few days, as they opened up a five-point lead at the top of their league by defeating Crooklands Casuals 4-0 last Saturday before reaching the final of the BDJFL Cup with a 3-2 win over Crooklands’ under-11 team.

There was yet more knockout action in the under-16 Hospital Cup, as Hawcoat Park reached the final courtesy of a 3-1 victory against Crooklands Casuals, while in the league, Holker Old Boys Greens hammered Walney Island under-15s 10-2.
