Vickerstown drew 1-1 with Hesketh Bank in the West Lancashire Premier League.

Jackson Round put Vickerstown ahead after 20 minutes, but they conceded an equaliser with ten minutes left to share the points.

Sticking with Vickerstown, true clubman Phil Athersmith has announced his retirement due to having to relocate because of work commitments.

Phil has been at the club for 17 years and his commitment to all three teams has been unwavering. As part of Dave Forrester’s successful reserve side he won every local trophy on offer, scoring the winning penalty at Holker Street in a Furness Senior Cup Final a particular highlight and doubled his efforts by making a clean sweep in the Sunday league.

He has recently been player-manager of the A team and in the past also represented the first team well.

Holker Old Boys lost their final league game of the season against newly-crowned champions Longridge Town 4-1last Saturday.

Longridge won the title on the last day as their win, coupled with Avro’s loss at AFC Liverpool, meant they finished two points clear having scored nearly 150 goals in their campaign.

Walney Island rang the changes in their final league game against Furness Cavaliers, who were in no mood to take their foot off the pedal and ran away with a 5-0 win.

Callum Lamb, Gareth Killip, Chris Marston and Joe Blackshaw (2) were the Cavs’ marksmen. The two sides meet again next Saturday in the Challenge Cup Final at Railway Meadow.

In the only game in Division Two of the Furness Premier League, newly-promoted Ulverston Rangers reserves beat Millom St James 4-0, Luke McCracken (2), Curtis McAloone and Stu Smith the scorers.

The Furness Senior Cup final between Ulverston and Walney Island takes place this Monday 7pm kick off at Holker Street.

On Tuesday, Barrow Wanderers host Holker Old Boys A and Millom A welcome Bridge United in the Horne Cup semi-finals both 6.30pm kick offs.
