Spaces are still open for the series of off-road cross-country cycle races being hosted by Ulverston Victoria High School next Sunday (April 28).

Four junior races (five in total) will be held on the day and they are for riders of all abilities from school Year 3 upwards, with the first of these getting underway at midday.

There is a small £3 entry fee per person to cover the cost of running the event, while there will be food and drink available to buy on the day through GRILLa Cheese and VW Crepes.

A fun race for pupils in Years 3-6 will be the first to start, followed by a competitive race for the same age group, which begins at 12:45pm.

The race for Years 7-8 will be next, with a 1:15pm start time and the final junior race to be held will be for those in Years 9-10, which gets underway at 2pm.

A senior/adult race then rounds the day off at 3pm, with a 4pm finish scheduled.

The event is being organised by UVHS with the help of local cycling clubs Barrow Central Wheelers and Velo Cycles in Ulverston.

The gates will be open to the public at 10am and registration closes 30 minutes before the start of each race.

Boys and girls will race together in each of the the four junior races, but there will be separate prizes for the boys and girls categories.

Each race is limited to 50 entries on a first come, first served basis. There may be the opportunity to sign up on the day if there are places available, but as it stands the closing date for entries is next Friday (April 26).

To reserve your place at the event, please complete the online form at www.uvhs.uk/cycle-race-2019. Payment is to be made on the day.
