Barrow's Susan Street claimed a gold medal in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the Empire Grappling championships in Manchester last weekend, while her club mate Sarah Vinton won bronze in the same event.
Both women are members of Millom Fight Club, where they are coached by David Delvecchio, who is Cumbria's first and only black belt in the spot.
Street travels to Millom three or four times a week and joined in classes only 12 months ago after her son Sol, who is a promising MMA fighter had joined the club, and often wins with an arm bar submission.
Vinton has trained with the club's owner, Craig Heasley, for four years but has only been training in a GI (jiu-jitsu uniform) for eight months.
