THE Castle edged closer to the title of the Barrow & District Mixed Darts Premier League as they opened up a three-point lead with an 8-1 win over relegated side the Vic Tavern.

James Kempster once again led the way with a 21-dart game, including scores of 139, 125, 121 and a 180 in his doubles game with Rachael Newsham.

Other top scorers were Sean Miles (131, 100), Karen Kirkby (100), Chris Irvine (100), and Toni Ormandy (100). The Vic’s only winner was Ann Morrison with scores of 121 and 100, while Rab Butler (123, 113) and Anthony Thompson (174) chipped in with good scores.

The Harbour won 5-4 against Furness CC B and their season now depends on the last game's results. Harbour’s top throwers were Dave Eccles (134, 2x100), Lyndsey Cummings (125, 100), unlucky loser Ritchie Hall (140, 120, 100 and a 122 in his doubles game), Christine Barker (125) and Darren Clarke (100). For the Cricket B side, Denis Yeates was on top form scoring 134, 100 and Carol Walker got 103.

The Division One title race is going to the wire as well where Dirty Duck sit top awaiting the results of rivals Red River,who had their bye.

Dave Glasgow (100), Mark Wright (101) and Mike Wright (100) all won well in a 5-4 win over the Labour Club. Their best scorers were Dave Benn (108), Glenda Mossop (140), Edna Johnson (117), J. Grainger (111) and Phil Moscrop (107).

The Brewery gave themselves a glimmer of hope in the fight for safety with a 5-4 win over the Central. Simon Anderson (156, 100), Martin Bown (134) and Chrissy Anderson (107) were their best and Jean Sandy (100) replied for the Central.

The Raiders Bar were on top form to beat basement side Kill One A 7-2. Louise Scarr (100), Scott McGurkin (133, 100), Neil Walmsley (100), Ben Livesey (100) and Dan Walmsley (140, 100) all scored well.

In Division Two, the Last Orders hold a five-point lead going into the last game and their 6-3 win against the Clarence sees them as favourites.

On form for the Last Orders were Dale Miles (121, 100), Brian Kirkpatrick (140, 100), Kev Hubbold (121, 107) and unlucky doubles pair Rebecca Cherry and Chris Keay (2x121, 105).

Duddon S&SC overcame the Albion 5-4. Mike Kellett (2x100), Courtney Wakefield (100) and Alan Brown (100) were their best.
