LUKE Cresswell is confident Barrow Raiders are heading in the right direction after reviewing the team's performances in their weekly video sessions.

The Raiders have not won since scoring a rare success away to Batley Bulldogs on the opening day of the 2019 Betfred Championship season, with the only point gained since then coming in a draw at home to Dewsbury Rams.

It does not get any easier for Barrow either as they face a trip to fourth-placed Leigh Centurions tomorrow, but full-back Cresswell has seen enough to be in no doubt there is not much the team need to change before the wins start coming again.

"We're pretty positive things will turn and we can start winning games," said Cresswell.

"Even though we won the first game of the season, shape-wise and attack-wise we've seen in video we look more natural and comfortable in the way we play in the last couple of games.

"It looks like it's all coming together a bit, we just need to tweak a few things to get the wins."

Even last Sunday's 32-16 defeat at home to York City Knights in the Coral Challenge Cup produced positives for the Raiders thanks to their fightback from 14 points down early in the second half to within four in fewer than 10 minutes and their dominance before the visitors pushed away late on.

Cresswell is under no illusions about the challenge Leigh will pose on their own patch, but is taking encouragement from the Raiders' home victory against the Centurions last year when they were a full-time side along with how they pushed them all the way up until the final 15 minutes of the regular-season away game at Leigh Sports Village.

"No-one will probably expect us to win, but we'll definitely go there and give 100 per cent, and try to cause a shock," said Cresswell.

"We can take positives from last year when we won at home, and last year when we played them away we nearly beat them."
