PAUL Crarey hopes Dan Toal does not get handed a lengthy suspension following his red card in Sunday's 32-16 Coral Challenge Cup defeat at home to York City Knights.

The back row, playing only his second game since returning from injury, was dismissed on the stroke of full time by referee Gareth Hewer for his part in a fracas.

Raiders head coach Crarey understood Toal was coming to the defence of team-mate Jamie Dallimore, but knows he cannot afford to have anyone else out as injuries mount.

"It's going to cost us dearly if he gets a ban when we've got no bodies, and there's no need for it," said Crarey. "The game had gone then and it was frustrating.

"But I think there was a little knee to Jamie Dallimore's head which started it.

"We'll have a look at it and see if there is anything, but I can't think of any other reason why Danny would react to one of our players being on the floor."

Crarey is waiting to find out whether Danny Morrow will be ruled out for any length of time too after suffering a knee injury.

The second row is optimistic an injection will cure it though.

"He's had this injury before and he's said he's going to have a cortisone injection," said Crarey.

"He seems to think that will cure it, but there is a difference between Sunday when you're full of adrenaline and Tuesday when you can't walk."
