TWO late strikes from Callum Rayner were not enough to prevent Askam United from being condemned to a bottom-place finish in West Lancashire League Division One.

Askam needed three points and were 3-0 down away to Kendal County with 10 minutes remaining before Rayner struck twice either side of a Harvey Irvine goal.

However, they could not complete the comeback to take the win and will finish bottom with just one game left.

Millom handed promotion hopefuls Lytham Town a 2-0 defeat thanks to two goals in the last 10 minutes from Jamie Pattinson and Chris Wood.

Hawcoat Park survived a scare against Division Two side Furness Rovers in the Senior Cup, progressing on penalties after a 1-1 draw where Joe Fagan had put Rovers ahead.

Walney Island and Furness Cavaliers drew 1-1 at Tummerhill in the Division Two derby, where both goals came in the first five minutes.
