Congratulations to seven-year-old Harry Heighton has became the under-eight kumite champion at the Northern Open Karate Championships earlier in the month.
With father Andy and great-grandad Ted watching on, seven-year-old Harry came out on top at the tournament in Kendal and proudly showed off his trophies to his delighted classmates at Vickerstown Primary School the following day.
Harry is a yellow belt at The Dojo on Roose Road, Barrow and the championships were his first competition after going to classes for the last year.
Despite being smaller than the rest of the competitors in his age group, he swept to victory after a head shot in his first fight, while he was losing 2-1, kicked off his run to the title.
