WALNEY Central are 80 minutes away from a place in the semi-finals of the BARLA National Cup.

Tomorrow, they face National Conference League Division One side Myton Warriors, of Hull, at Central Drive (kick-off 2.30pm).

The Humberside outfit drew 24-24 at home last weekend to Saddleworth, with a late penalty goal giving them a share of the spoils.

Walney will be up against it, but are ready for the challenge.

“It is a big game and we will be facing their first team as they have no Conference fixture, otherwise they would probably have sent their second string,” said Cents joint-coach Dave Warne.

“We went okay at Farnworth last week (26-10), but injuries took their toll. In the end, I had to play 60 minutes but won’t be playing this week.”

The Cents welcome back experienced campaigners Stu Tippett, Brad Nichols and Adam Nicholson while Matty Holmes (ankle) is ruled out.

Ulverston, who were unhappy with last week’s home fixture against St Annes A being called off, travel to Latchford Albion. Tom Spedding and ‘Dinger’ Bell are unavailable, replaced by Mike Reekes and Dan Akrigg.

“We were very disappointed with St Annes failing to come to Dragley Beck, this is the second year on the trot they failed to come to our place,” said coach Dennis Porter.

“We were all ready and pumped up and left frustrated, but we did have a good training session in its place a good two-hour stint.”
