JORDAN Park held his nerve to seal victory in the bottom play-offs of the 2018/19 Barrow Individual Snooker League.

Park defeated Anthony Atkinson 3-2 in a nervy final to claim the £65 prize, along with picking up another £40 for his break of 41 at Preston Street Club.

Park had to come through a preliminary-round match with Gaz Barbour, which he won 2-0 thanks to the run which would see him take the highest break prize.

He saw off Jack Arnold in the quarter-finals by the same scoreline and then whitewashed John Tyreman, who had beaten Brad Elliot 2-1 on the colours in the deciding frame, to reach the final.

Atkinson overcame Alan Eaton 2-0 in his first match and then won by the same margin against Jamie Thompson in the semis.

Thompson had accounted for last year’s main competition winner and bottom play-off favourite Martin McDonald, winning 2-1 on the blue ball.

But Park had the edge in the final and went on to snatch victory, with Atkinson taking the runners-up prize of £35.

The knockout stages of the main competition start this Tuesday, when Group A winner Danny Macdonald faces Ste Waddington, who snatched fourth place after beating Thompson in a must-win match, at Preston Street at 7pm.

On Wednesday, Matty Hill takes on Tom Millington at the same venue starting at 6pm.

That is followed by Neil Aspinall, who won Group B in his debut season, taking on Dale McLean at the Soccer Bar on Saturday, March 2 at 7pm.

The quarter-finals conclude with Tony Mason facing Tommy Barbour at the same venue and the same start-time on Sunday, March 3, with the finals night at Preston Street on Saturday, March 16.
