JAMES Moffatt is looking forward to see how his string fares over the coming days, with the Cartmel trainer holding numerous entries.

Altruism is due to run over the hurdles at Newcastle today, while the recent acquisition Dagian and Mega Double are aiming to build on recent strong performances at Catterick on Tuesday.

Lough Kent is due to be in action at Carlisle tomorrow as well and Moffatt is excited ahead of a busy few days following a quiet period of late.

“I’m looking forward to the runners coming this weekend,” said Moffatt.

“Altruism is coming out, Lough Kent, Fiosrach is running on Monday at Ayr and we’ve put in entry on Tuesday for Dagian, who is a lovely horse, along with Boruma and Mega Double.

“We’ve got a few in there.”

The 2018/19 National Hunt season has been something of a rebuilding one for Moffatt, who has retired some of the long-standing inmates at Pit Farm Stables.

The 12-year-old Morning Royalty, who holds an entry for Ayr on Monday, is among the elder statesmen carrying on, but the likes of four-year-old Dagian and five-year-old Mega Double are the future for the yard.

“There are one or two we’ve had to retire like Fantasy King and Captain Brown who have done their bit, so we are trying to build a young team of horses again, so every four or five years this is bound to happen,” said Moffatt.
