BARROW motorcycle racer Sam Walker attended the Aintree Motorcycle Racing Club's presentation evening at the Suites hotel in Knowsley.

He didn't have the results he'd hoped for last season due to mysterious handling issues with his 1000cc Honda.

Despite this with some scary looking riding, he still managed to grab third place in both the Superbike and Powerbike Championships.

Hopefully a full investigation over the winter will highlight the problem in readiness for this seasons challenges.

Dad Mike who actually won both titles in 2017 and still holds the lap record he set back in 2011, took a back seat last year reverting to his first love of Classic Scrambling, but I wouldn't be surprised if he appears on the grid at Aintree alongside Sam again this year.

While road racer Walker was collecting his awards at Knowsley, two more Furness riders were collecting theirs at the Cedar Court Hotel In Huddersfield.

Askam schoolboy Moto X rider Finley Pickering was collecting a couple for winning the 90 Racing MX club's 50cc Auto championship riding a KTM machine, supported by local enthusiast John Sloane and Mr T's garage in Barrow.

Gavin Southward, also from Askam, collected an award for runner up spot in the Over 30s class.
