GYMNASTS from Furness Gymnastics Club in Barrow came back with a haul of medals after a successful day competing in the Cumbria County Two Piece Novice championship earlier this month

The competition, hosted by Carlisle Gymnastics Club, saw clubs from Millom, Barrow, Kendal, North Lakes, Whitehaven and Carlisle compete in both Level Six and Level Seven categories, with over 100 gymnasts involved in total.

The competition is a stepping stone for gymnasts who are transitioning from the beginner floor and vault competitions, across to four piece competitions.

In two piece novice events, gymnasts compete on two pieces, but cannot compete vault and floor together. This ensures they have to compete on at least one of the more challenging pieces of bars and beam.

Furness won a fantastic 12 medals and 18 ribbons at the competition, with many of those representing the club taking part in their first competition.
