EDDIE Hearn believes Liam Conroy represents a big step up in class for Joshua Buatsi after the British title clash between the pair was confirmed for Saturday, March 23.

The Barrow light-heavyweight and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Buatsi face off for the vacant Lonsdale belt on the undercard of the show, which also features domestic title scraps between Lawrence Okolie and Wadi Camacho at cruiserweight, and Lewis Ritson and Andy Townend at lightweight.

Buatsi’s promoter Hearn is in no doubt Conroy is a much different challenge for Buatsi, who is 9-0 so far in his professional career with seven stoppages.

“Joshua Buatsi fights for the British title against the in-form Liam Conroy, which is a significant step up,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

The main event sees Charlie Edwards put his WBC Flyweight World Championship title on the line against Spain’s Angel Moreno.

Edwards beat Cristofer Rosales by unanimous decision to claim the world crown last December and Hearn is excited by the card.

“This is a great show,” said Hearn. “A new hero of British boxing defending his world title in Charlie Edwards, with three brilliant British title clashes on the undercard.

“Everybody resonated with the story of Charlie Edwards after his memorable performance at The O2 in December.”
