AFTER last spirited performance in a defeat to Aspatria, Hawcoat Park find themselves making a trip to the east of Cumbria tomorrow.

Kirkby Stephen-based side Upper Eden are the hosts for this re-arranged game in Cumbria One and there are a few changes to last week’s squad due to unavailability, but Park still go strong.

Mike Gibson will be looking to get a starting jersey this week and could find himself in the front row with regulars Adam Grainger and John Donnan, while Andy Kent moves to the bench as he is carrying a slight knock.

Ash Mowatt and Matt Robson continue in the second row after a number of good performance pushing on the front three.

A dynamic back row consisting of Brad Morrow, Callum Ramsey and Grady Slater will be a real handful on the day at the breakdown and in the loose.

Jack Shannon at scrum-half links up with skipper George Smith, who moves from full-back to fly-half, looking for good ball for the centres Chris Burns and Lewis Sayle.

Wide men Jack Lord and Keenan Cotton cover the spaces looking for try scoring opportunities, with Benji Platt returning to the full back role.

Upper Eden will be aiming to haul themselves off the bottom of the table tomorrow, while Hawcoat are seeking more valuable points to try to get into the top half of the table, with one round of fixtures to go before the split.

Hawcoat A teams challenge for the North West Intermediate League Division Four North title continues this week as they travel to Blackpool side Fylde Vandals to try to keep the pressure on.

The front row is likely to be in the hands of Paul Woodburn, Mark Hall and Ryan Brown, providing the latter has recovered from a shoulder injury.

The engine room will be looked after by Corey Doherty and Jordan Bayliff, with Martin Kennedy and Luke Shaw looking to get involved as well.

The back row could be key so after superb performances by Peter Matthews and Austin Meadows last time out should get the nod along with Peter Jennens.

Dave Wynne and Jason Milby will be looking after centre field, looking for good ball from half-backs Scott Garnett and Adam Williamson, who will undergo a late fitness test.

Jake Rigg will be getting a start in the back line, with returning players Adam Armstrong, Jay Crowe, Fran Sarmiento, Rodnei Odandi and Rob Shephard.

With further players to confirm, Hawcoat must be confident in this game. They are seven points behind leaders Vale of Lune 4 having played one game fewer, while Fylde are eighth.
