THE captains of Ulverston Golf Club were on hand to present cheques to their respective charities for the year at a recent event.
The Captain’s Cocktail Party was a chance for the club and ladies captains to celebrate their time in the role and conclude the fund-raising they had done for the groups they had chosen to support in 2018.
Ladies captain Liz Marr Smith raised £874 for the South Lakes Birthing Centre and presented her cheque to midwife Julie Cain.
Club captain Neil Bremner had chosen to raise funds for the North West Air Ambulance and handed over a cheque for £1,131.00 to the organisation’s Sarah Thompson.
The latest results from the club are as follows.
Winter Open Series event three
Results: 1. K Henderson and D Mackay 42pts (card play-off); 2. A Clough and D Manson 42pts; 3. D Rayton and R Rayton 41pts (card play-off); 4. S Clegg and M Houghton 41pts (card play-off); 5. L Dixon and M Dixon 41pts (card play-off).
Best gross score: P Beddoes 33pts.

Order of Merit (after event three): 1. A Clough 40; 2. S Ottley 26; 3. D Manson 26; 4. W McDougall 25; 5. C McDougall 25.
