DANNY Macdonald set the mark for the highest break so far of 2018/19 Barrow Individual Snooker League with a century in the fifth round of fixtures.

Macdonald edged ahead of Tom Millington in the race for the highest break prize with 88 in his first match against Brad Elliot, who has stepped in to replace the injured Graeme Edwards, which he won 6-0 thanks to three runs over 40 as well.

And he managed to top that in the second game of the double-header, knocking in a 101 en route to a 4-2 victory.

Macdonald managed several 30-plus breaks too, but so did Elliot as he got two frames on the board, along with a 40.

The same night saw Matty Hill and Martin McDonald playing as part of the double-header too, with Hill winning the first encounter 4-2 after coming from 2-1 down and knocking in a 46.

It was honours even in game two though, which finished 3-3 as Hill battled to earn a share of the spoils.

Previous highest-break holder Millington was in ruthless form against Jordan Park, who has joined the competition in place of Adam Cook.

They played both of their fifth-round matches back to back and Millington emerged 6-0 victor in each game including runs of 67, 61 and 42.

Millington faced John Tyreman too, coming out 5-1 winner in their match at Preston Street Club and making breaks of 65 and 41.

Tyreman did enjoy success in his catch-up match against Jack Arnold though as breaks of 50, 37, 28, 27 and 29 sealed a 6-0 win.

Arnold and Kyle Brown then split their matches. Breaks of 40 and 37 helped Brown win the first 5-1, but Arnold turned the tables to win the second 4-2 against one of the tournament favourites.

Jamie Thompson recorded two 4-2 wins over Alan Eaton, including making 49 in the return match, while Steve Waddington won 4-2 and 5-1 against Gaz Barbour.

The first match saw Waddington rack up breaks of 51, 37, 31 and 34, and make a 47 in the second, where two games went down to the pink ball and two to the black.

There was nothing to separate Barbour or Anthony Atkinson in their two matches, both of which ended in 3-3 draws with both players making several 20-plus breaks.

Dale McClean had two catch-up matches to play, the first of which saw him beat Paul Deelay 4-2, with a break of 35 from Deelay, and draw the second 3-3 after being 2-0 down.

McClean then faced Elliot and a clearance of 34 for the former was the highlight of a 3-3 draw first up, followed by several breaks over 30 helping him to a 6-0 win.
