TOM Millington set the highest break so far of this season’s Barrow Individual Snooker League en route to rebounding from a defeat in his first match with Dale McClean.

A couple of 30-plus breaks and some over 25 too helped McClean to a 4-2 victory in the first meeting between the pair, but it was a different story in the return match.

Millington turned the tables to triumph by the same scoreline and knocked in an 85 break as well, the best so far this season.

Martin McDonald beat Jamie Thompson 4-2 in a scrappy first match, but debutant Thompson roared back in the return with a 5-1 triumph. McDonald’s sole win did, however, see him make a 65 clearance.

Another debutant, Neil Aspinall, scored a double success over fellow new-boy Anthony Atkinson, starting with a 4-2 win in the first match which included a highest break of 42.

Aspinall then stormed to a 6-0 win in the return match, with four breaks over 25 and one over 30.

Danny Macdonald was in good form in the first match against John Tyreman, making runs of 72, 64, and 45 to secure a 5-1 win.

Tyreman won 4-2 in their second meeting though, recording best breaks of 35, 33 and 29, while Macdonald had the consolation of making a 61.

Tony Mason is finding his form, and made breaks of 58, 49, 41 and 40 when he beat Alan Eaton 5-1 in their opening game of the round.

It was a similar story for Mason in the second match too, making another 58 as he won 4-2. Eaton replied in one frame with a best of 40.

Jack Arnold was given a 6-0 walkover from his first match with Adam Cook due to Cook pulling out of this year’s tournament, but a replacement has been found in Jordan Park.

Arnold won their match though, with several 20-plus breaks helping him to a 5-1 triumph.

A break of 54 helped Kyle Brown take a 5-1 win over Tommy Barbour in their first meeting on the round.

However, Barbour kept his hopes of qualifying for the knock-out stages alive with a 5-1 win in the return fixture.

Paul Deelay had two catch-up matches from previous rounds, the first of which saw him held to a 3-3 draw with John Tyreman. He then picked up three points on his trip to West Shore, beating Graeme Edwards 4-2.
