South Lakes ladies’ 1st XI saw their winless run in the North League Division Two North West extended to five games with a 3-1 defeat at home to second-placed Lytham St Annes last Saturday.

Lakes gave a good account of themselves against their high-flying visitors, with their goal coming off the stick of Rebecca Cook.

However, Lytham eventually proved to be too strong and strikes from Olivia Robinson, Georgina Read and Grace Webster gave them the three points.

South Lakes face another tough task this weekend, when they face Garstang 2nd XI, who are currently fourth in the table, away from home.

Steven Olliver was on target again for South Lakes men’s 1st XI, after his double hat-trick against Fylde the previous week, but his goal was only a consolation in a 7-1 hammering at Ormskirk in Division Three North of the North West League.

They remain third-from-bottom in the division, with just two wins to their name and have a tough match at Golborne coming up on Saturday.

The men’s 2nd XI faced their equivalents from Ormskirk at home in the North West League Division Five North North and had more success than the first team, as they ran out 3-1 winners.

It was just their second win of the campaign and it was an impressive one of that, as Ormskirk are second in the table, and the result took them four points clear of second-from-bottom Kendal.
