IAN Evatt is hoping for a united front on and off the pitch, as his Barrow AFC side look to get back to winning ways against Eastleigh at Holker Street this afternoon.

Life has been tough for the Bluebirds over the last month, with a five-match losing streak coinciding with an ongoing change in ownership at the club, after the departure of Paul Casson three weeks ago.

Before today’s match, the Bluebirds Trust will be launching their scheme to purchase shares at the club with an organised pitch invasion at the ground, which will see players and staff join in.

Evatt’s men will then try and kick-start their campaign against the Spitfires, in what is the first competitive action for two weeks for both teams.

Evatt said: “Our fans have been great with us and obviously it’s a new era for the club now.

“(Interim chairman) Paul Hornby has done a magnificent job in pulling everyone together and trying to move on from the Cassons, who put a lot of money in and didn’t really have that much success.

“We need to now build on what they’ve given us, and try to move this club forward and get it back into the Football League.”

Evatt has also echoed the words of his captain Josh Granite in wishing a change of fortunes for striker Jacob Blyth, whose time at the club so far has been wrecked by injury.

After having to play catch-up during pre-season, due to a dislocated shoulder suffered in a friendly against Furness Select, Blyth has only recently started training again for an unspecified problem that kept him out of action for a month.

Evatt said: “He’s a very, very good player, who has obviously missed a hell of a lot of football through injury.

“Hopefully he is now over all that and we can have a clear run with him, get him fit and firing and ready to go because he’s a different option for me and he’s probably an option that we’ve lacked.

“We can only hope that he’s over all his injury problems and that he’ll be able to kick on now.”
