SUPER League champions Wigan Warriors and Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven will both provide pre-season tests for Barrow Raiders, the club have confirmed.

Wigan will visit Craven Park on Saturday, January 26 for their final match before the defence of their Super League crown gets under way the following week.

The Warriors are expected to field a strong side as they will be in the Lake District for a pre-season training camp in the build-up to the match and could also feature Joe Bullock, who has joined the club from Barrow.

Whitehaven make the trip down from West Cumbria six days earlier for a match on Sunday, January 20 for the first meeting between the sides since the 2017 League One play-off final.

Haven had been due to face Barrow in pre-season last year, but were forced to pull out of the match after injuries decimated the squad.

There is match action at Craven Park tonight though as Furness Raiders continue their College Rugby League Premier Division season with the visit of Halifax ERA (kick-off 7pm).

The Raiders under-19s side suffered a narrow 16-10 defeat to Wakefield College last Wednesday and are aiming to avenge the 34-10 defeat away to Halifax at the start of last month.

This is the second of three consecutive home games for David Cairns’ side, who then welcome another of the top teams in Hopwood Hall on November 21.
