FURNESS CC got their Barrow & District Mixed Darts League season under way bowling over the Harbour 5-4 in the Premier League.

Gary Thompson led the way with a127 knock-up in his game. He was followed by Mike Fletcher (100), Tia Hill (100), Ryan Griffiths (104, 100) and Luke Shaw, also with a 127 knock-up. Harbour’s best in the narrow defeat were Carol McCormack (3x100), Lyndsey Cummings (100), Ritchie Hall (3x100), Tracy Clarke (140, 125) and Mary Horner (101).

Castle have opened up a four-point lead with a comfortable 7-2 win over the Newton. James Kempster (105, 2x100), Chris Irvine (100), Karen Kirkby (100), Rachel Newsham (121), and doubles partners Kempster and Kirkby (133, 132) were their best scorers. Newton’s replies came from Lou Petcher (103) and Gary Bennett (2x100).

The Mason’s bounced back with a 6-3 win over Vic Tavern, with Will Hunt (121) and Mel Bamber (114) their top scorers. The Vic’s best throws came from Dave Shaw (120, 100), Ann Morrison (100), Chris Geering (140, 135) and Dave Castree (100).

In Division One, the Dirty Duck fly into top spot after beating Central 6-3. Mike Wright (140), Dave Glasgow (140, 103) and Dave Lipscombe (100) all hit big scores for the Duck. Central’s best shots came from Chrissy Armstrong (125), Keith Moscrop (114) and Brian Rose (100).

The Kill One A share the lead after beating Brewery 7-2, with Brian Charlton (140, 123), Dave Hamer (133) the top scorers. The Brewery’s best were Michelle Wall (123, 100), Marlene Thompson (102), Chrissy Anderson (125) and Simon Anderson (120).

Red River surprisingly sank at the Labour Club 6-3. Martin Rhodes (140), R. Wykes (115) and Chris Wolstenholme (117) were best for the River. M. Porrie (100), Nathan Johnson (108), and L. Durkin with Ryan Brown (120, 100) in the doubles all scored well for the Club.

In Division Two, Duddon S&SC beat Costellos 7-2 and hold a two-point lead. Alan Brown was in great form, scoring 121, 100 and an 88 knock-up in 24 darts. He was backed up by Simon Garnett (2x140). For Costellos, Steve Bottomley (100) and Hazel McFadyen (120) scored well.

The Clarence had a convincing 8-1 win at the Albion and Last Orders got their season under way by winning 5-4 at the Golden Ball.

Sharon Hall (115), K. Davison (120) and Sharon Hubbold (121, 100) scored well for Last Orders. Golden Ball’s replies came from Jordan Priss (125, 100), Leigh Ebdell (100) and Les Quayle (3x100).
