Following two poor performances from his side, Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt believes none of his players can have any argument if they are left out of tonight’s match at Harrogate Town.

Evatt kept faith with 10 of the players that started their shock FA Cup defeat at Chorley in last Saturday’s home game against Barnet, with the exception, Jack Hindle, coming on as a first-half substitute.

However, his faith was not repaid, as the Bluebirds went down to a 2-0 defeat after producing an insipid display at Holker Street.

It meant that AFC have lost three straight games under Evatt for the first time and he has suggested he could make some changes for what is a tricky task against Harrogate, on their artificial pitch.

Evatt said: “The players need to respond and react, there’s no doubt about that.

“As I said to them, on a bank account model, their credit’s ran out now. They’re out of credit and they’re starting to go into their overdraft, so they’ve got to show up and put in a performance.

“The last couple of games have not been good enough, but we’ll work hard, as staff and as players, to put things right and there’s an opportunity for the whole squad now.

“I could name any team I wanted on Tuesday and nobody could have any argument.

“I gave that team another chance on Saturday and they didn’t quite do what we wanted them to or asked them to, so we have to respond now in the right manner.”

Unlike last week, the chance to put things right has come quickly for Barrow, as they travel to a Harrogate side who sit fifth in the National League after a superb start to their first-ever season at this level.

However, Town have had their own disappointments recently, as last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at struggling Dagenham & Redbridge followed them being knocked out of the FA Cup by Wrexham.

Evatt said: “I just wanted last week over and done with because it’s been a tough week, with what’s gone on off the pitch. I just want to get back to working hard and looking forwards.

“Harrogate are a good side, it’s a simple as that, and they’ve had some very good results, so we’ve got our work cut out.

“We’ve got a tough run of games coming up but we’ve got to stand up and be counted and hopefully we can get back to playing the way I know we can on Tuesday night.

“We had a long chat after the Barnet game, where a few home truths were told from everybody, and I think everyone now knows that what we need to do to improve.”
