Barrow AFC captain Josh Granite won’t play any part in tomorrow’s match against Barnet, as he continues to manage the toe injury that forced him to miss last week’s FA Cup tie at Chorley.

Granite had been carrying the issue for a while and had been playing through the pain, although it did affect his movement during the away game at Bromley two weeks ago.

The 26-year-old stepped aside in an attempt to prevent it from getting any worse, with veteran Brian Wilson coming in to play alongside Dan Jones in the calamitous 3-2 defeat at Victory Park.

Barrow manager Ian Evatt said: “Josh has had quite a bad toe injury for the last two weeks now, he’s been carrying it and it’s just been getting worse, so we’re having to settle that down.

“Hopefully it will only be another week or so before he’s back in action.”

What’s less clear at the moment is when striker Jacob Blyth will be returning to the field, after he suffered another injury setback in the build-up to the Chorley game.

Blyth, 26, went through a number of injury issues before his arrival in the summer and was already having to play catch-up this year after dislocating his shoulder in Barrow’s first pre-season friendly, against Furness Select, in July.

The tall front man had been building up his minutes following his recovery throughout September, although he’s yet to start for the Bluebirds and he’s now set for another spell on the sidelines.

Evatt said: “Jacob has an injury that we can’t really speak about until we get some further results, which will be in a couple of weeks.

“It’s not ideal at all, but I think until we get all the facts about what the injury could be or possibly couldn’t be, we’ll have to keep quiet and wait until we have all the information that we require.

“We had a bit of illness in the camp this week as well, but hopefully we’ve isolated that and be OK for the weekend. Other than that, I think we’ll be fine.”
