NATHAN Mossop had little hesitation in signing a new two-year contract with Barrow Raiders.

The deal takes the Raiders vice-captain into his 10th season - split between two spells - at Craven Park and was concluded prior to the close of the 2018 Betfred Championship campaign.

Former Millom amateur Mossop is delighted to be staying with Barrow and wasted little time when he found out an offer was on the table.

“It was an offer I couldn’t refuse in relation to staying with my hometown club that I’ve enjoyed almost 10 years of playing with,” said Mossop.

“To be able to do that for another two years, I was really fortunate they gave me that opportunity and I’m looking forward to pre-season.

“It’s a fantastic club and Barrow have looked after me massively, and there’s nowhere I’d rather go. When I sat down with Paul (Crarey) and Andy Gaffney, it was a very easy decision to stay.”

The 30-year-old is one of the club’s longest-serving players and while he has not made any plans beyond his new contract, he hopes to stay for as long as possible.

“Two more years will take me to 32 and I’ll never say never after that, but we’ll see how I feel and how I go,” said Mossop.

“Ultimately, I guess it will be up to whoever is in charge, but I’ll certainly give it my all over the next couple of years and whatever comes out of the back of that will be a bit of a blessing for me.”
