FOOTBALL star Georgia Stanway and motocross rider Greg Fisher are the latest winners of The Mail’s sports performance of the month awards.

Barrovian Stanway was named winner of the August accolade in recognition of her exploits with the England team at this summer’s Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

The striker lit up the tournament in France, helping England to a third-place finish and finishing as the joint-top scorer with six.

That saw Stanway named as winning of the silver ball award at the tournament too and she has continued that goal-scoring form in the FA Women’s Super League this season for club side Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Fisher was recognised with the September prize for his achievements closer to home after clinching the clubman class championship in the Bridgestone British Masters Series.

It was the first time in his 23-year racing career the Ulverston rider had claimed championship honours and he did it by winning five out of six rounds, taking third place in the one race he did not win.

Fisher combines his racing commitments with working for his fathers business and wants to defend his title next year.
