CUMBRIA will provide the final opposition for the BARLA Lions team this Sunday prior to the team heading out to Fiji next month.
The county side are in the midst of preparations for the annual Three Counties Championship against Yorkshire and Lancashire, which kicks off next month too.
Sunday’s match at Distington, therefore, provides both teams with a good test before embarking on their respective end-of-season matches either here or abroad.
“I have attended the majority of the Lions training sessions and seen the hard work that the coaches, players and management have put in for preparation of the tour and this is their final test,” said BARLA chair Sue Taylor.
“Cumbria county will be a perfect test for them who themselves are preparing for next month’s open age BARLA Three Counties Championship.
“BARLA would like to thank the Cumbria County Committee for organising this game which will see their Open Age side take on the BARLA Lions in a final hit out before they embark on next month’s four game tour of Fiji.”
The match at Distington kicks off at 2.30pm.
