LAST week’s board meeting was a good one and I’ll use this article to share some of the news.

We have promised to make our relationship with the supporters transparent and work together for the good of the club, so it was great a a representative of the Supporters’ Trust could attend.

We all want a stronger club and we shared ideas, mainly around off the field events and creating a social calendar together.

We are also happy to address any concerns or queries from our supporters and you can feed any of these through the Trust, but at the same time I’m happy to answer any questions. This isn’t my club or the board’s club it is our club, so why wouldn’t I want to share news and direction with you all?

We may plan an informal Q-and-A night with some of the board members, coaching staff and players. Hopefully, this will be a chance for our supporters to get close and personal over a few drinks in the Raiders Bar.

Some of you may know we have had a few maintenance issues at the ground, with some of our floodlights not working and the electrical cabling to the Popular Side not being big enough to handle all the current during the winter games.

I want to give a massive thank you to stadium director Joe Slater, who has been able to plan the improvements in electrical provision at a fraction of the cost of using a contractor and, at the same time, I think we have finally identified our floodlight issue and thanks again must go to our sponsors for their help.

We have plans in place to improve our website, with a new version about to go live. It’s so important in this day and age we interact with our fans, and we will be looking to add many regular articles and news stories when it is ready.

Website hits now directly affects our future funding, so it is important that we have an attractive site with up-to-date information, which I know we haven’t been great at in the past.

Finally, Keith Holt made one of his regular trips to Yorkshire to discuss Championship funding and there is a commitment to even it up in the next two to three years, which is good for us.

However, we still don’t know what we are receiving for next year, which makes it difficult to budget and bring in players.

Hopefully, when the figures are agreed, we will have a little extra to strengthen our club further.
