Ulverston Otter Tom Robinson continued his successful year by winning the Male Wetsuit Under-19 Championship at the Coniston Arena Chillswim earlier this month.
Robinson had previously reached the peak of his career so far by winning the Scottish National Open Water Championship in August.
With conditions somewhat unsettled and the water temperature pretty low, the swimmers were soon jockeying for position and once into their rhythm they quickly warmed up and adjusted to the conditions.
Right from the start, Robinson, already an experienced open water swimmer, set out to dominate and he produced a devastating pace.
Full of confidence, he got better and better as the race progressed, forging ahead and gradually opening up a lead over his rivals.
Through the halfway mark he continued to hold a commanding lead and was able to deal with any challenges with ease.
Staying focused and full composed, he came into the pressure zone with what was by then a comfortable lead and despite the noble efforts of his nearest challenger Ben Hobbs, Robinson cruised to victory with a fair degree of ease in a time of 01:51:03.75.
