BOOTLE begin the defence of their Terry Clinton Memorial Trophy crown tomorrow when they host Britannia in the first round.

It is a repeat of last season’s first-round tie in this competition for both teams and the home side will be hoping for a similar outcome as they beat the Brit 8-0 on that occasion.

However, Bootle will also be aware the team they beat in the final back in May, Holker Old Boys reserves, fell at the first hurdle last weekend when they went down 6-2 to Vickerstown reserves.

Furness Premier League Premier Division leaders Croftlands Park are aiming to rebound from suffering their first defeat of the season last Saturday.

They are at home to Haverigg United in their Trophy encounter, while last week’s conquerors Hawcoat Park reserves are at home to Walney Island reserves.

Elsewhere, winless Dalton United reserves host Millom reserves in a repeat of one of last weekend’s Premier Division fixtures, which Millom won 3-0.

And the other Trophy match of the day sees Furness Cavaliers reserves at home to Barrow Celtic.

There are two Premier Division matches taking place as well, with Kirkby United aiming to move up to second with a win when they take on Holker’s second string.

Meanwhile, Swarthmoor Social are at home to Vickerstown and Swarthmoor’s reserves aim to stay top of Division One when they visit Askam United reserves.
