MILLOM are aiming to gain a measure of revenge over Silloth for the previous week’s 25-17 loss when the two sides go head-to-head in the Cumbria Vase at Wilson Park tomorrow.

The Blues felt they could have won last week’s season-opener in Cumbria League Two had everyone turned out, but a late call-offs forced them to start with just 13, one of them being stalwart Gordon Park.

This week, Millom look to go strong from the off, with Robbie Pattinson and Joe Moyes playing pivotal roles linking forwards and backs from scrum-half and fly-half respectively.

The front three of Steve Watson, Dean Doyle and Kieron Rogan will look to give clean ball to the half-backs so they can get centres Chris Park and Ryan Carter up and running.

A strong second row push the front three on, with Kieron Coulson and Callum Lamont pulling the strings and back row forwards David Thompson, Matty Jordan and Ian Cummings looking to get on the front foot.

The pace of Sy Robertson and George Quint will be key in turning Silloth over, along with Jordan Moyes tidying up from full-back.

The winners travel to Carlisle Crusaders in round two.

Aspatria Eagles v Furness

Furness were forced to cancel last week’s game against the same opponents due to not having a front row, but Cam Mclure, Ben Hughes and Dillan Taputu are expected to take to the field tomorrow.

Will Mallinson will need to be on top form ,leading the pack from eight, and fly-half Iestyn Humphreys has to be given good, clean ball to help get the back line away, with his brother Rhys always on hand to break the line in his pursuit of points.

Sam Wicks and Lee Starky will look for plenty of ball early doors to back up Will Hetherington out wide, with Kieron Mason and Joel Thomas also available.

Hawcoat Park A v Burnley 2

After a 54-0 loss away to Leigh 3 last Saturday, Hawcoat Park’s second team return to the comforts of home for a Halbro North West League Division Four North clash which doubles up as a cup match.

Travelling players from last week will get first nod this week with Corey Doughty, Jack Lord, Harry Limitsios, Mike Gibson, Ryan Brown, Chris Milby and Martin Kennedy included.

Mark Hall, Adam Armstrong and Rob Shephard all return too and it is hoped new signing James Armitstead is fit to play.

Benji Platt is aiming for another run-out and Pete Matthews will be looking to continue after returning to training this week. The front three will see Paul Woodburn join Gibson and Brown.
