READERS have offered their congratulations after overwhelming praise was offered up to a village school which has maintained its ‘good’ Ofsted rating.

Askam Village School was visited by inspectors on June 15 and 16 following a previous ‘good’ inspection in June 2016.

In the report published online, inspectors described the school – which has 172 pupils aged three to 11 on roll – as ‘warm and friendly’.

Praise was given to school leaders in the Ofsted report, who ‘ensure that all pupils feel welcome’.

Inspectors noted that pupils show high levels of respect for each other and staff as well as being ‘focused and highly motivated to achieve well’.

Pupils ‘contribute fully to the life of the school’, the report states, and ‘learn how to be responsible and active citizens’.

Inspectors noted that leaders and governors have a clear and ambitious vision for the school.

Readers were left highly impressed by the report and they had lots of praise to shower upon the school.

One reader had children attend the school in previous years, and another reader had been an employee at the school.
