Barrow will be throwing a big bank holiday bash for the Queen's jubilee.

The nation is being urged to throw the biggest ever thank you party during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee festive dour-day Bank Holiday weekend.

It is hoped millions will gather at street parties, host a Big Jubilee Lunch or get together around the county to thank the Queen for 70 years of service, but also to thank neighbours, family, friends, communities, the NHS and key workers for their support over the past year.

CandoFM, Barrow BID and Barrowfull have rallied together to host a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event in Barrow’s Dalton Road on Saturday June 4.

The event, which will take place between 12pm and 8pm, will mark the Queen’s 70 years of service to the country.

The people of Barrow are invited to join the street party which will see 60 picnic benches lined up along Barrow’s Dalton Road.

And some Mail readers have told us how they will - or won't - celebrate the occasion.

Anthony Perkins said: "I will be at a private party, with food, friends, booze and coverage on the big screen of the big day itself, and there'll also be an evening bonfire and fireworks with sparklers for all, I'm looking forward to it."

While MusicLass said, of the town centre event: "Brilliant!"

Joyce Clarke said: "The welly in Dalton are having an outside party to celebrate with entertainment fancy dress picnics on Friday, June 3 in the afternoon."

Charlie Dowthwaite said: "I won't be celebrating any of this nonsense of a family that is rolling in billions of pounds who haven't done a day's work in their lives.

"The monarchy is a waste of space and taxpayer's money.

"Celebrating this whilst people are living below the breadline, NHS workers who are run off their feet dealing with the pandemic, people sleeping on our streets & the like of P&O sacking workers & employing non-union labour is disgusting."
