THIS week I, Bald Foodie Guy, travelled along the A595 in search of a tasty meal.

I drove to Claire's Catering on the A595, it's the road that will take you from Millom to Barrow.

It is quite a significant layby on this road, so it is always really busy.

There is a lot of heavy traffic from farmers, trucks and couriers.

But despite that, when I first got to Claire's there was nobody there in the queue - and that is what they call a Brucie bonus.

I decided that I was going to try the double cheeseburger, and it was quite a whopper if I am being honest with you.

It was a beast of a burger.

I stuck a load of American mustard and ketchup in it, and it was heaped in onions.

The two girls that were working were real salt of the Earth kind of girls.

There are no airs and graces with these girls - they are lovely.

I paid £5.50 for the burger as well as a cup of tea.

I really needed this.

The double cheeseburger was cooked fresh, it is all cooked to order so you do have to wait a little bit but it is not a problem when everything is fresh.

It was a lovely fresh bun and the actual burger patties were just right - they are not too dry.

The burger patties are quite thin but they're a really good size - they were bigger than my head!

The ketchup and American mustard were a well known brand. I can't fault the burger to be honest.

You can see why it gets so busy, there were even truckers going past and beeping their horns. They get lots of regular customers.

You just can't do rubbish food on laybys like this because passing trade will know and won't come, so you know it's going to be good.

The burger filled me right up, it was a cracker!

The food hygiene rating is 5, so it has top marks.

They do all sorts, bacon butties, sausage bacon and egg, burgers, tea and coffee

Get yourself down there and have a try, you won't regret it.
