THE future of a building that acts as centre for adults with mental health needs in Barrow looks certain to have its lease extended.

Barrow Borough Council’s executive committee meet next week to discuss the extension of the lease on the Adelphi Court building.

Papers released ahead of the meeting, show that councillors will be requested to agree a new lease for Adelphi Court with the Richmond Fellowship, for a period of three years from June 2021 to May, 2024.

The Richmond Fellowship, which runs a centre supporting adults with mental health needs, had been locked in discussions with Barrow Borough Council over the future of the building.

A spokesperson for the fellowship, which is made up of 11 flats and an office, said a new lease, would mean their good work could continue.

They said: “We have worked in partnership with Barrow Borough Council for the last five years, delivering supported housing to those with mental health difficulties.

“The scheme has been an incredible success. The extension to the lease on Adelphi Court would mean we could continue to provide this essential support to our residents in Barrow.”
