A MAN has been fined after going "over the top with alcohol" and being drunk and disorderly.

Kevin Lee Hartley, of Chapel Lane, Bootle, pleaded guilty to the charge at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court in Barrow on Wednesday July 25.

Peter Kelly, prosecuting, said: "At 3.25am police were asked to respond to a report of a man behaving suspiciously.

"He was found slumped against a door and was quite clearly drunk.

"He stood up and ran into someone's garden and then into a field before he was arrested."

The incident occurred on June 18 on Summer Hill in Bootle.

Hartley, who was not represented by a solicitor during his appearance in court, apologised for his actions that night.

He said: "I had just found out my father has cancer and I went over the top with alcohol."

District judge Gerald Chalk ordered Hartley to pay a £50 fine, as well as court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
