ANOTHER day of cancellations are affecting rail users across the county in the latest saga with service operator Northern.

So far, a total of 32 trains have been cancelled today (30) across the North West, including six services connecting between Barrow with Preston and Manchester Airport and Carlisle with Lancaster.

Delays and disruptions are affecting a further 54 services including the 9.18am Barrow to Carlisle, due at 11.57am which will now be terminated at Workington.

The 12.06pm Barrow to Carlisle, due at 2.49pm will be started from Workington and will no longer call at Barrow, Askam, Kirkby, Foxfield, Green Road, Millom, Silecroft, Bootle, Ravenglass, due to a shortage of train drivers.

The 2.08pm Carlisle to Barrow, due 2.41pm will be started from Workington and will no longer call at Carlisle, Wigton and Maryport, again due to a shortage of train drivers.

And the 7.45pm Carlisle to Barrow due 8.37pm, will be started from Workington. This service will no longer call at Carlisle, Dalston, Wigton, Aspatria, Maryport and Flimby due to a shortage of train drivers.

A number of angry rail users took to social media to vent their frustration and confront Northern on the dire service.

Heather Bruce tweeted that she was unable to travel to her place of work and was unable to take her son to a hospital appointment.
