MULTIPLE emergency teams rushed to Windermere to a report of children in the water after a boat capsized.
The search, which involved a Coastguard helicopter, the police, fire crews, ambulance crews, mountain and inshore rescue teams and lake wardens, found an upturned vessel with a single person sitting on top.
Cumbria Police established there was only one person in the water and after a final sweep the helicopter returned to its base in Prestwick.
"This was a multi-agency incident with all involved teams working to ensure the quickest rescue," a Furness Coastguard spokesperson said.
The person was brought ashore and handed over to the North West Ambulance Service on the evening of Thursday, September 26.
"If in danger on the coast or one of the four navigable lakes, Windermere, Coniston, Ullswater or Derwentwater then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard," the spokesperson added.
