Parking restrictions could soon be imposed on a road used by rail commuters.
Residents in Roose are receiving letters from Westmorland and Furness Council highways about Yarlside Road that runs past the station. The proposal for parking restrictions, which is in its 'early stages,' is now open to consultation.
The two proposals are:
- Restrict the east side of Yarlside Road to resident-only parking (at all times), and to introduce a limited waiting parking place (Mon-Sat, 8am-6pm) two hours no return within four hours (permit holders exempt) restriction on the west side in marked bays.
- Introduce a 'no waiting at any time' (double yellow lines) at the junction with Roose Road and on one side of the street where the road narrows.
Properties on the street could apply for a maximum of two permits for a specified vehicle.
The letter states the consultation is in response to 'long-standing concerns raised by residents.'
It reads: "Most houses in this area do not have off-street parking and are located directly across Roose Train Station, which attracts non-resident car users who frequently leave their vehicles parked on Yarlside Road for days."
The end of the consultation period is on Friday, October 4.
