A BARROW man has been ordered to pay compensation to a DIY store after he was caught stealing nearly £200 worth of toilet roll over a 15-day period.
Brian Evans, of Station Road in Dalton, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on August 29.
Court documents show the 57-year-old admitted to thieving toilet rolls on six different occasions from B&Q at Cornmill Park in Barrow between July 9 – July 23 this year.
The total value of toilet rolls stolen was £192.
Magistrates imposed a three-month conditional discharge and ordered Evans to pay every single penny back to the store in compensation.
No order for costs or compensation was made due to the Evans being of limited means.
