A MAN and a woman have been arrested and charged for shoplifting as part of a police crackdown on retail theft.
Cumbria Police have been 'locating, arresting and charging' more offenders in the South Lakes towns such as Kendal, Windermere and Ulverston using their Operation Retail procedure, which they say 'makes this process happen faster and more often.'
Recent arrests the police announced are:
- David Bromley (43) arrested for Theft Shoplifting and charged to appear at South Cumbria Magistrates Court on 18 September 2024.
- Andreea Enache (22) arrested for Theft Shoplifting and charged to appear at South Cumbria Magistrates Court on 5 September 2024.
A spokesperson said: "We will continue to work closely with our local retailers through the Shopwatch scheme to respond quickly to reports of theft, prosecute offenders and use civil and criminal orders to bar them from retail premises."
