AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a 27-year-old man who was found unresponsive at his home in Barrow.
Joseph Dean Wood was discovered at his property on Thwaite Street on May 4, 2024, the hearing at Cockermouth Coroners' Court was told.
Emergency services attended and a paramedic pronounced Mr Wood dead at 10.24am.
Area Coroner for Cumbria Kirsty Gomersal said a postmortem report carried out on Mr Wood offered a cause of death of cocaine toxicity.
She said that Mr Wood was single and of unknown occupation.
Ms Gomersal said an investigation into Mr Wood’s death was started on May 10 and proposed a provisional conclusion date of November 2024.
