Ambleside man caused crash whilst ‘significantly over’ alcohol limit
A MAN who was ‘significantly over’ the drink-drive limit fled from the scene of a crash, a court heard.
Stephen Richard Dodd, of Castlefield, Ambleside, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to failing to stop after a road accident and driving a vehicle while over the limit.
Prosecutor Lee Dacre said the 59-year-old failed to stop after he crashed his black Ford Transit van into a blue Volkswagen Tiguan at the Plumgarths Roundabout in Kendal on the A591 at 5:20 pm on July 17 this year.

Barrow pensioner caught over twice legal drink driving limit on A590
A PENSIONER has lost his licence after he was caught drink driving in Ulverston.
Andrew Watson was driving his Mini Cooper on the A590 on July 15 this year when he was stopped by road traffic officers on mobile patrol.

Barrow man drove car on A592 after drinking in Lake District
A SUSPECTED drink driver stopped by police had never held a driving licence, a court heard.
Barrow man Ethan Edney was driving on the A592 near Newby Bridge when he was stopped by police officers who claimed he was swerving over the road.
Checks later revealed the 26-year-old had never held a full or provisional driving licence, South Cumbria Magistrates' Court heard.

Barrow man convicted of driving without insurance 'victim of fraud'
A MOTORIST prosecuted after driving with no insurance claimed he was the victim of fraud.
South Cumbria Magistrates' Court heard Leo Bell was driving a car near Barrow town centre when he was stopped by police.
Checks by officers raised suspicions that he was not insured to drive the vehicle.

Drink driver was four times legal limit in Barrow Asda car park
A DRINK driver was nearly four times the legal limit when stopped by police, a court heard.
Barrow man Mark Singleton was over the limit when driving a BMW 320 at Asda car park in the town on June 23.

Dangerous driver sped through Barrow Tesco car park in police pursuit
A DANGEROUS driver with no insurance sped off from police through red lights and a busy supermarket car park, a court heard.
Roscoe Cowsill raced away from police near Barrow town centre before getting out of his car and trying to run away - only to be caught.
