A MAN threw a large rock at a police vehicle window because he was mad at officers for arresting his friends.
Police were dealing with an incident in Whitehaven on March 29 and arrested friends of Aaron Blinco, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.
Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said Blinco, 28, picked up a large rock and threw it through the passenger side of the police vehicle window.
Officers turned and saw the window had been smashed. Blinco said police had arrested his best friend and cousin.
He told officers: “You have arrested my friends for f*** all, so there you go.”
During police interview, he stated that he smashed the window using a rock because he ‘doesn’t like police’ and was ‘mad at them’ for arresting his friends.
Blinco, who was not legally represented, said he agreed with the prosecution’s case and told magistrates, ‘it was a heat of moment kind of action’.
The defendant, of Ashley Way, Egremont, pleaded guilty to criminal damage under £5,000.
Magistrates fined Blinco £80 and ordered him to pay £250 in compensation to Cumbria Constabulary.
He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
