PLANS to convert a redundant set of barns into six properties and renovate a vacant farmhouse have been approved.
Both full and listed planning consent have been granted for the work at Roosecote Farm, near Barrow.
The proposals for the site in Dungeon Lane were brought before a meeting of Barrow Borough Council's planning committee last month.
Councillors agreed a final decision on the applications – submitted by A. Gibb, of Holker Estates – be delegated to the borough council's head of development management owing to outstanding matters related to window detailing and waste storage.
In a report produced ahead of the meeting, case officer Maureen Smith said the part of the farm covered by the plan included the farmhouse, four 'historic farm buildings', three modern, detached agricultural buildings, and a small area of land used as a yard.

She said the farmhouse would be refurbished both internally and externally, with a new roof and replacement windows and doors added and a stone-clad garage built.
"The barn conversions utilise existing openings where possible, including some larger openings being filled with glazed elements," she said.
"The conversion will also include the re-covering of the roofs with natural slate and the repointing of the existing masonry walls."
